Perth
Top Doorslammer drag racer, Robin Judd, is hoping he can repeat
past performances when he races at Sydney
Dragway, Eastern Creek
this weekend – Saturday and Sunday, March 24-25.
Judd reached the final at the past three consecutive Australian
Nationals at Sydney Dragway, winning the 2009 and 2010 titles and
runner-up last year.
Judd was also the first Australian Top Doorslammer racer to run
into the 5.7-second zone, a 5.779
second pass while testing at Sydney Dragway for last year’s
Nationals.
“I believe our Aeroflow/William Buck ’59 Studebaker is more
suited to Sydney Dragway than any other track on the championship
series pro tour,” Judd said.
Having fought his way back into (Australian National Drag Racing
Association) ANDRA Top Doorslammer championship series contention
at the recent Westernationals at the Perth Motorplex, Judd is
looking to reach another Sydney final to set up a run for the
championship series with two events remaining after this weekend.
“The Perth Motorplex maybe our home track, but Sydney Dragway is
our most successful and therefore must be considered our favourite
track, Judd said.

Perth
drag racer, Robin Judd, fell just two-hundredths of a second shy
of winning the 41st annual Westernationals (March 3-4) and taking
the Australian Top Doorslammer championship lead at the Perth
Motorplex, Kwinana Beach.
Judd needed and got a good result at the Westernationals, West
Australia’s largest and prestigious drag racing event, to get
back into the (Australian National Drag Racing Association) ANDRA
Top Doorslammer championship series race.
With the Westernationals carrying 50 percent bonus points to
entice interstate teams to travel to Perth for ANDRA Pro Series
championship rounds, Judd took the maximum 12 qualifying points
when he top qualified and then earned the maximum 15 bonus points
on offer after recording the Top Doorslammer quickest elapse time
and fastest speed of the event.
Judd
was not in the eight-car field after the first qualifying session,
but moved to the top of the qualifying list with a 5.861-second
at 250.00mph (402.33km/h), a new Top Doorslammer track speed
record, in the second session.

Perth
Top Doorslammer drag racer, Robin Judd, is optimistic that this
weekend’s 41st annual Westernationals at Perth Motorplex,
Kwinana Beach, will be his Australian championship
game-breaker.
Judd, who was runner-up in three (Australian National Drag Racing
Association) ANDRA Top Doorslammer championship series –
1999-2000, 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 – and fourth last season
(2010-2011), concedes he must reach the final at this weekend’s
event to keep his 2011-2012 championship aspiration alive.
With the Westernationals, West Australia’s largest and
prestigious drag race event, carrying 50 percent bonus points to
entice interstate teams to travel to Perth for ANDRA Pro Series
championship rounds, Judd is also mindful that 10 of the past 12
Westernationals winners have gone on to win the Australian Top
Doorslammer championship series.
While Judd has competed in the past 14 Westernationals, reaching
the final on three occasions – 1999, 2006 and 2010 – and last
year’s semi-final, the Westernationals has proved to be the weak
link in his championship chase.
